Fixes the volume button! I had a new phone about a year ago. Suddenly I thought it was broken because the volume button only seemed to control media. Finally I learned this was an Android update. How idiotic is that? At least give us the option to change it back! So yeah anyway this app fixed it and I'm super happy about it. I hardly ever need to mess with media volume but notifications I change all the time. The version I have doesn't ask for permissions not sure if the newest version does?

Android 9 forced your volume buttons to control only media volume. Volfix reverses this annoying change and restores the practical, user-friendly behavior you actually want.
Android 9 brought a lot of new features to our devices but in the same time, it brought an annoying drawback: The volume buttons control the media volume all the time and we have to perform multiple steps to change the ringtone and notification volume.
There is now a fix to this problem and it is called Volfix.
When Volfix is enabled, the volume buttons of your device will control the ringtone and notification volume by default. It will control the media volume while you are listening to any kind of sounds and it will control the "in call" volume while there is an ongoing call.
Volfix requires to be enabled as an accessibility service in order to listen for volume button press events and to map the buttons to control the ring and notification volume instead of media volume.
Please note that at the moment Volfix only works while the screen is on.

After my phone updated I could no longer control ring volume by default with the buttons and the option to turn off "control media volume" in settings is no longer available at all. Also the multi volume sliders that should show up when using the buttons doesn't work either even though the option in settings is still there. Go figure nearly every update brings another problem. This solved that and as a bonus this app doesn't collect any information nor does it have pop ups or ads.
Reverts the android devs braindead decision to lock what the volume rocker does to media, and not allow reconfiguring it back. With android 13, this app pops up both notification AND media on the side, which still allows control over both without extra presses, and changes the notification volume by default, as it should. What a relief! Thank you! I wanted the volume slider buttons to control ring tones and notifications so I don't have to open them in settings each time. This does exactly that. Buttons control ring tone and notifications unless media is playing. Then buttons control media. Works perfectly.
I can't believe this app is even necessary, I just got a Pixel 5a and was completely baffled that hitting the volume keys didn't change the ring volume. Thankfully this app works great, adjusts the ring volume when nothing is playing and adjusts the media volume when media is playing.
